Floral Prints Collage Sheets

These printable collage sheets feature a collection of floral prints from the late 17th century. I love how unsurprised the tiny people in the background of some of the illustrations are to be encountering these giant plants. I can assure you that nothing grows this well in my garden.

I provided a variety of sizes from small tags to some larger vertical images, which might be nice as backgrounds. Great for use in junk journaling, art journaling, collage and other mixed media artwork.

These beautiful flower engravings were created by Caspar Luyken, a Dutch engraver and illustrator, active in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. He is known for his illustrations of books, including works by the Dutch poet and playwright Joost van den Vondel and the German hymn-writer Paul Gerhardt. He also engraved portraits, including a famous one of the German polymath Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz.

Luyken is also known for his engravings of plants and flowers, which were included in several botanical works of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. One of his most notable works in this field is "Theatrum Botanicum" (Botanical Theater), a two-volume set of books published in 1696 and 1697, which contains over 500 engraved plates of plants. The engravings in "Theatrum Botanicum" are considered to be very accurate and detailed, and they are still used as a reference by botanists and historians of botanical art today. Luyken also illustrated other botanical works such as "Hortus Floridus" of 1696, a catalog of flowers and plants, and "Flora Batava", a book of illustrations of Dutch plants.
