Flowering Plants Printables

The pretty plant images on these free printables come from a book about flowering plants, grasses, sedges, and ferns dating back to 1905. I’ll admit I had no idea what a sedge was. I had to look it up and learned that it’s just a grass-like plant.
Scroll down, and you’ll find three different collage sheets of vintage plant illustrations for you to cut up and add to your journal spreads and other artwork and crafts. There’s a sheet of 2.5” x 3.5” ATC-sized images, a sheet of 1” x 2” Dominoes-sized images, and lastly, a sheet of gift tags. The gift tags would make great journal cards, or use them for gift-giving.
If you enjoy these free collage sheets, I really think you would like these Botanical Picture Atlas Collage Sheets and these Flora of Germany Collage Sheets. They evoke a similar delicate, leafy aesthetic. However, I have lots of bold, bright flower collage sheets in the botanical section of my free printables library, so make sure you take a look at all of your options.
Incorporating vintage plant images into mixed-media journaling and scrapbooking can add depth, character, and visual interest to your projects.
Vintage plant images can serve as the foundation for your projects. By decoupaging them onto journal or scrapbook pages, you create an aged, textured backdrop. These images can also be cut out and layered with other elements, adding depth and character to your compositions.
Make use of vintage plant images to frame your content or embellish empty spaces. By arranging them around photos, text, or central elements, you can add a decorative touch. Distressing the edges can give a weathered look for added authenticity.
Explore mixed media techniques such as image transfers, stamping, and dimensional adhesives. Transfer vintage plant images onto your pages using mediums like gel medium, allowing them to blend seamlessly with your background. Adding texture and dimension with foam tape or similar adhesives creates a dynamic and layered appearance. They can be used in conjunction with other elements like handwritten notes, pressed flowers, or watercolor accents, giving each project a unique character.
Vintage plant images add a natural and organic element to junk journaling, scrapbooking, and mixed media journaling, making them great materials for these crafts. The delicate and intricate details of flowers, grasses, and sedges can bring a sense of tranquility and serenity to journal pages. They serve as a reminder of the beauty found in the natural world.
These images offer a versatile design element that can be incorporated into various styles of journaling. Whether you prefer a shabby chic look in junk journaling, an elegant touch in scrapbooking, or a multi-layered, textured approach in mixed media journaling, vintage plant illustrations can work for many different uses.
Remember that the key to successful mixed-media journaling and scrapbooking is creativity and personal expression. Feel free to experiment with these ideas and adapt them to your style. Vintage plant images can be a versatile and inspiring addition to your artistic projects.
I hope you’ll add these to your supplies for art journaling, junk journaling, bullet journaling, scrapbooking, collage, artist trading cards (ATCs) and other mixed media artwork and crafts.
