Vegetable Seed Catalog Ephemera Sheets

Free Printable Vegetable Seed Catalog Ephemera Sheets

Fall is here, so I felt like it was time for a harvest! I dug up the illustrations for these free printable ephemera sheets from a vintage seed catalog, and they ex-seeded my expectations. There’s a whole cornucopia of sheets to choose from. Okay, okay, I’ll stop with the gardening puns. I couldn’t resist.

I’ve done a few different posts using seed and gardening catalogs like these Art Nouveau seed catalog covers, these colorful vintage seed catalog covers, this rose catalog, or this gardening supply catalog (one of my most popular posts), but I haven’t used one that highlights vegetable gardening. Seemed like a good time for it.

This Bliss & Son’s catalog from 1875 has the most fabulous borders on its pages. I looked at a number of their other issues, and while the illustrations were still fantastic, they lacked the beautiful borders, so I went with this issue.

Scroll down and you’ll find a sheet of 2.5” x 4.25” journal cards, a sheet of gift tags, and a sheet of 2” x 3” journal cards, which in addition to the actual gift tags, I think also make great tags for junk journaling.

In the 19th century, vegetable gardening was a common practice in Europe and North America. The widespread popularity of vegetable gardening in this period can be attributed to several factors, including the rise of the middle class, a growing interest in self-sufficiency and sustainability, and the influence of several notable gardening books and publications. During this time, many new techniques and technologies were developed for growing vegetables, such as the use of hotbeds for starting seeds, the creation of new hybrid varieties, and the introduction of fertilizers and pesticides. The 19th century also saw the formation of gardening societies and clubs, which provided resources and support for amateur gardeners, and helped to popularize the practice of vegetable gardening.
