Vintage Flower Printables

Does the style of these vintage flower images look familiar? They are from the same book as the Valentini Flower Collage Sheets I posted last year. There were so many beautiful botanical illustrations that I didn’t use when I made those printables, so decided to revisit them and make a fresh batch. I said it in the last post, and I’ll say it again, I still feel like a lot of these illustrations look like something straight out of a Harry Potter Herbology class.
Scroll down, and you’ll find three different collage sheets of floral vintage printables for you to use in your mixed media journals and other artwork and crafts. There’s a sheet of 2.5” x 4.25” journal cards, a sheet of 2.5” x 3.5” ATC-sized images, and lastly, a sheet of 2” x 3” journal cards.

There are many ways you can use these free flower printables in a mixed-media journal. A couple of ideas include using them to create journal cards or placing them in your journal spreads as collage elements.
Creating a journal card could be as simple as cutting or tearing out the image(s) you like since I’ve sized all of the images on these collage sheets to work well as journal cards. If you want to give your journal card a more aged and vintage look, you can use distressing ink or tea staining. Lightly apply distressing ink along the edges of the cards to create a worn appearance, or dab tea-stained water onto the surface for a subtle aged effect. If you prefer something more sturdy, you can glue the image to cardstock. You can embellish your journal cards with details like handwritten notes, stamps, or other ephemera. Personalize them to make them uniquely yours.
You can glue your freshly created journal cards into your junk journal, vintage scrapbook, or other mixed-media journal. Maybe use the cards as spots for journaling or writing down quotes. You can either adhere them directly onto the page or create pockets by gluing three edges, leaving the top open to slide in notes or photos.
You can also place the journal cards between different sections of your journal or scrapbook to act as dividers. You can label these sections with tags or handwritten titles.
Vintage botanical illustrations are great collage elements for mixed-media journals. Their intricate lines and delicate shapes make lovely focal points, complementing other mixed media elements such as watercolor washes, stamped textures, or handwritten notes. Use them alone or layered with other ephemera.
Use larger flower illustrations such as those on the ATC sheet above as central focal points in your collage. Place them prominently on the page to draw the viewer's attention. Layer smaller botanical images with other collage elements to create depth and visual interest. Experiment with overlapping images.
You can also use these images as the foundation for your collage backgrounds. Arrange them in a collage-style layout and build upon them with additional layers of mixed media elements. Try tearing the edges for a distressed look or arranging them in a grid for a structured pattern.
When working with these free vintage printables, don't be afraid to try new things and have fun with the process!
I hope you’ll add these to your supplies for art journaling, junk journaling, bullet journaling, scrapbooking, collage, artist trading cards (ATCs) and other mixed media artwork and crafts.
