Common Objects of the Country Collage Sheets
As the title of this page indicates, the nature illustrations on these free printable collage sheets comes from a book entitled, Common Objects of the Country. It was published in 1894.
The book provides short and simple descriptions of some of the numerous objects that are to be found in “fields, woods, and waters.” I like that the preface states that the book, “is not intended for scientific readers, but simply as a guide to those who are desirous of learning something of natural objects, scientific language has been studiously avoided, and scientific names have been only given in cases where no popular name can be found.” That’s my kind of field journal.
The illustrations highlight a number of plants, but by and large, insects are the stars of the show. However, I like that each plate includes a variety of "‘common objects.’
Scroll down, and you’ll find a sheet of 2.5” x 4.25” rectangles and a sheet of 2” x 3” rectangles.
Use these collage sheets for art journaling, junk journaling, bullet journaling, collage, artist trading cards (ATCs), scrapbooking and other mixed media artwork.
