Free Vintage Easter Ephemera Printables + How to Create an Easter Junk Journal
I realized that even though Easter falls in April this year, it will be here before you know it. To give myself enough time to add a few Easter posts while spreading them out, I need to get going! Today, I bring you my first batch of Free Vintage Easter Ephemera Printables for this year. These feature adorable chicks and rabbits, eggs, and floral motifs. These are perfect for junk journals, scrapbooks, greeting cards, and mixed media art.
I’ve created three different collage sheets for you:
3.5 x 2-Inch Easter Ephemera Tags – These smaller pieces are perfect for journal pockets, tuck spots, and embellishments.
3-Inch Circular Easter Ephemera – Ideal for envelope seals, journal tags, gift tags, and round embellishments.
2 x 3-Inch Journal Cards - I know these aren't much different than the 3.5" x 2" tags, but they are a little smaller to offer some versatility.
How to Create an Easter Junk Journal
If you love creating themed junk journals, Easter is a fantastic inspiration! Here’s a step-by-step guide to making your own Easter junk journal using these free printables.
I always say that my philosophy is to use what you have, but here are some suggested supplies:
Printed Easter ephemera sheets (found on this page or check out my other free Easter printables)
A blank journal, handmade journal, or old book
Tea-dyed or pastel-colored papers
Lace, ribbons, and fabric scraps
Stamps, stickers, and embellishments
Vintage book pages, sheet music, or ledger paper
Watercolors, distress inks, or colored pencils
Washi tape with floral or Easter patterns
Paper doilies for added texture
3.5” x 2” Journal Cards
Prepare Your Journal Base
You can either use a store-bought blank journal or create your own by folding and binding assorted papers. Use a mix of tea-dyed, pastel, and floral-patterned pages to create a vintage look. Adding layers of old sheet music (I find lots of old sheet music at thrift stores), decorative scrapbook papers, and even coffee-stained paper can give your journal a lovely aged aesthetic.
Consider making different sections in your journal—perhaps a section for Easter traditions, a space for memories, and an area for creative writing.
Add Background Layers
Tear vintage book pages, sheet music, or ledger paper and glue them onto your pages for texture. Lightly ink the edges with distress ink or watercolor for an aged effect. Washi tape with floral or pastel designs can be used to add a border, and layering fabric scraps and doilies will enhance the texture of your pages.
A fun technique is using a light whitewash effect by brushing diluted white acrylic paint over busy backgrounds to soften them while still keeping the vintage character.
Cut & Place Ephemera
Cut out the vintage Easter ephemera pieces and decide where they will go. Layer them with doilies, lace, and fabric for extra dimension. Consider using foam adhesive dots to create a raised effect for some of your elements. You can also tuck small tags or folded ephemera into pockets to add an interactive aspect.
Create Pockets & Tuck Spots
Use scraps of cardstock or folded papers to create pockets and tuck spots. Slide in some of the smaller Easter ephemera pieces, mini tags, or even handwritten notes. Pockets can be made using simple folded paper, fabric, or envelopes glued onto your pages. Try layering different sizes of pockets for a fun, layered look.
Consider adding hidden journaling spaces by creating a flip-up pocket or secret compartment under one of your ephemera pieces where you can write personal notes or memories.
Embellish & Decorate
Add lace, buttons, and stickers for a vintage touch. Use stamps or handwritten quotes to make your pages extra special. Hand-stitching with embroidery thread can add delicate detailing, and small charms or ribbons tied onto paper clips can serve as adorable bookmarks.
To create a cohesive look, stick to a soft pastel color palette with occasional pops of gold or silver for a refined vintage aesthetic. Consider using gold foil accents on some pages or lightly dusting edges with metallic paint for a touch of shimmer.
Finish with a Special Cover
Decorate your journal cover with an Easter-themed image, fabric scraps, or a ribbon closure. A title like “Easter Memories” or “Springtime Blessings” adds a nice finishing touch. You can also adhere lace or an old embroidered fabric piece onto the cover for a vintage feel.
For added durability, consider using Mod Podge to seal any fragile elements. A vintage button or charm closure can be used as a decorative and functional way to keep your journal securely closed.

Creative Prompts for Your Easter Junk Journal
If you’re not sure where to start with journaling, here are some prompts to inspire you:
Write about your favorite Easter traditions – Do you have any cherished childhood memories of egg hunts, decorating eggs, or family gatherings?
Document this year’s Easter celebration – Use photos, ticket stubs, or handwritten notes to capture special moments.
Include vintage Easter recipes – Tuck in a handwritten card featuring an old-fashioned Easter recipe, like deviled eggs or a vintage carrot cake.
Create an Easter gratitude list – Write down what you’re thankful for this season.
Incorporate poetry or scripture – If Easter has a spiritual significance for you, include meaningful verses or quotes.
Make a mini Easter bucket list – List small activities you’d like to do to celebrate spring, such as planting flowers, making Easter crafts, or baking treats.
