Vintage Valentines Ephemera Sheets

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, so I thought I’d get some appropriate sheets added to the library. The illustrations on these free printable ephemera sheets come from vintage Valentines from the early 1900s. They come from a variety of different publishers. Some of them were greeting cards, and others were postcards.
Scroll all the way down, and you’ll find a sheet of 2.5” x 4.25” cards and a sheet of 1.5” x 2.5” cards.

The tradition of sending love notes and poems on Valentine's Day began in England and France, where it was popular to exchange handwritten messages expressing their love and affection. These early Valentine's Day cards were often decorated with pictures of Cupid, the Roman god of love, and were made from parchment or vellum.
The Industrial Revolution in the 18th and 19th centuries led to the mass production of Valentine's Day cards. This made them more widely available and affordable, allowing more people to participate in the tradition of sending Valentine's Day cards, which in turn made the holiday increasingly popular.
