Insect Journal Printables

Insect Journal Printables

I thought the illustrations on the vintage insect illustration printables I posted a while back were old until I found the ones in the free journal printables on this page. They come from a book dating back to around 1650. It has a very entertaining title too, which roughly translates to The Garden of Grasshoppers and Butterflies Together the Diversity of Flies Collected in the Service of Everyone. There’s a nice little assortment of insects featured on each tag including, butterflies, caterpillars, grasshoppers, dragonflies, and one out-of-place snail. While the snail is definitely not an insect, it’s a cute addition.

Scroll all the way down, and you’ll find a sheet of 2” x 3” journal cards and a sheet of gift tag printables.

If you are looking for more insect printables to use in your junk journal, art journal, scrapbook, etc., take a look at these insect illustration collage sheets or these insects in the garden collage sheets. I also have a number of butterfly journal printables.

If you enjoy these free printables, be sure to follow me on Instagram and Pinterest, so you’ll see when I post new ones.

2” x 3” Journal Cards

Below I have a sheet of gift tags which can serve as eye-catching decorative accents in your mixed media journal. They can be both versatile and engaging elements in a journal layout.

They can be repurposed as eye-catching title headers by adding a small layer of text on a solid background, introducing each section of your journal. The unique shapes and designs of the gift tags instantly draw attention and set the tone for the content that follows.

Also consider using them as interactive flaps or pockets, adding an element of surprise and depth to your pages. By attaching the gift tags with washi tape or brads, you create a dynamic experience as readers lift the tags to reveal hidden notes, artwork, or even mini journal entries beneath.

Gift tags can also be creatively integrated into collage compositions. Layer them with other materials such as magazine clippings, fabric swatches, and textured papers to construct visually captivating and tactile pages that capture the essence of mixed media art. The juxtaposition of the gift tag's structured design against the organic nature of the other materials fosters a sense of artistic harmony, making your journal a captivating exploration of texture, color, and personal expression.

Remember, mixed media journaling is all about expressing your creativity and combining various materials and techniques. Feel free to experiment with these ideas or come up with your own unique ways to incorporate gift tags into your journal.

Print these collage sheets and add them to your supplies for art journaling, junk journaling, bullet journaling, collage, artist trading cards (ATCs), scrapbooking, and other mixed media artwork and crafts.
