Vintage Halloween Printables

Free Vintage Halloween Printables

Halloween will be here before you know it, so it's the perfect time to start thinking about how to bring some spooky, vintage flair to your Halloween crafting! Today, I have two free printable sheets filled with delightful vintage Halloween ephemera. These printables are made up of images from vintage Halloween postcards, and whether you're creating a mixed media masterpiece, a Halloween journal, or simply decorating your home, these images can be fun additions to your projects.

What's Included?

I've created two different collage sheets:

  • 3.5 x 2-inch Collage Sheet: This sheet features a collection of vintage Halloween postcards, each bursting with vibrant colors and whimsical Halloween scenes. You'll find everything from black cats and witches to pumpkins and moonlit nights, all adorned with that distinct early 20th-century charm. These would make great journal cards, focal points in an art journal, scrapbook embellishments etc.

  • Gift Tag Sheet: The second sheet is a set of vintage Halloween gift tags, perfect for adding a unique touch to your Halloween gifts or treats or as smaller journal tags. Each one is a miniature piece of art, featuring the same kind of delightful Halloween imagery as the collage sheet, but in a smaller, tag-sized format.

These printables are not only great for Halloween-themed crafts, but they also offer a way to preserve and repurpose vintage artwork that might otherwise be lost to time.

Make sure you check out all of the free Halloween Printables in my collection. You might like these other Halloween ephemera sheets I made up from a different set of vintage Halloween postcards. I also have some spooky spirit photo collage sheets, bats, poison bottle labels, and more!

Ideas for Using the Vintage Halloween Printables

1. Halloween Junk Journals, Vintage Scrapbooks, Art Journals, etc.

Vintage ephemera is a staple in junk journaling, and these Halloween printables are perfect for adding spooky touches to your pages. You can cut out the images and use them as focal points or background elements in your journal spreads. The images can be layered with other Halloween-themed papers, lace, or fabric to create rich, textured pages. Use washi tape, stickers, or stamps to further embellish your layouts, making each page a unique work of art.

Tip: Try using the gift tags as journal tags. You can write on the back or front of the tags, using them for journaling prompts or quotes that match your Halloween theme.

2. Mixed Media Halloween Art

These vintage postcards and tags can also be incorporated into mixed media art projects. Imagine a spooky Halloween canvas or a shadow box filled with vintage-inspired elements. Use the images as the central focus, and surround them with paint, ink, texture paste, and other mixed media supplies. You can also incorporate real objects like dried flowers, twine, or fabric scraps to add dimension and interest.

Tip: Add a layer of clear gesso to the images before applying any wet media to protect the ink and ensure your artwork lasts.

3. Halloween Cards and Invitations

If you're planning a Halloween party or just want to send some spooky greetings, these printables are perfect for making handmade cards or invitations. The vintage postcard images are already designed with a greeting card format in mind, so they work beautifully as card fronts. Simply print them out, cut to size, and adhere them to a blank notecard. Add a personal message inside, and you have a unique, handmade Halloween card ready to go.

Tip: Use the gift tags as embellishments for your cards. Attach them with a brad or ribbon to add a fun, interactive element.

4. Halloween Décor

These printables can also be used to create vintage-inspired Halloween decorations. Cut out the images and string them together to make a festive Halloween garland, or mount the images on black cardstock and frame them to create some small Halloween wall art. The gift tags can be used to add a nice touch to treat bags, party favors, or even place settings at your Halloween table.

Tip: For an extra vintage feel, distress the edges of the images with ink or by gently tearing them before using them in your décor projects.

5. Halloween Scrapbooking

Scrapbookers will love using these vintage Halloween printables to document their Halloween memories. The images work wonderfully as embellishments or journaling cards in Halloween-themed scrapbook layouts. Pair them with photos of past Halloweens, and use them to create a visual story that captures the spirit of the holiday. Don’t forget to add dates, locations, and little notes about your Halloween traditions to make your scrapbook pages even more meaningful.

Tip: Combine the printables with other vintage Halloween ephemera like old tickets, advertisements, or newspaper clippings for a truly nostalgic scrapbook layout.

6. Gift Wrapping and Tags

For a unique and personal touch, use the printable gift tags when wrapping Halloween gifts. Whether it’s a small treat for a friend or a special gift for a loved one, these tags will make your package stand out. Simply print, cut out, and tie them onto your gift with some twine or ribbon.
