Theatre of Machines Collage Sheets

These printable collage sheets are made up of designs by Italian engineer, Agostino Ramelli. The drawings date back to 1588. Large illustrated books of machines were popular during the Renaissance period and were referred to as, “Theatres of Machines.” From what I can tell, most of the machines were designed to move water or mill grain. I’m not clear how many, if any, of the machines were ever produced, but it sounds like the drawings were used as inspiration for engineers in the following centuries. I think they have a great steampunk vibe to them for journaling and mixed media purposes.

Scroll down, and you will find two different sheets with 2”x3” illustrations and one sheet with 2” circles that capture interesting portions of the designs.

I hope you are able to use these collage sheets as inspiration for your mixed media art journaling, junk journaling, bullet journaling, collage, artist trading cards (ATCs), scrapbooking and other crafts.
